The beautiful corpse of a dead star

Updated: Jan 3

* The beautiful corpse of a dead star *

  • Silk cord, muslin anchal, fluttering veil and so many poetic names can come to mind after seeing this picture...

But what is this picture?

This image is actually a miniature of the fascinating corpse of a star that died 2400 light-years from Earth...

About 10,000 to 20,000 years ago, a star about 20 times the mass of the Sun exploded as a supernova, and the shockwaves produced by the supernova were so intense that they destroyed the remnants of the star and the surrounding matter. Scattered far into space 60 light-years across...

This remnant of a dead star is called the Cygnus Loop, and the beautiful cloud it contains is called the Veil Nebula...

These waves of shock waves are still spreading in the space with a high speed of 350 km/s and presenting this beautiful sight to the viewers...
